If you watch Netflix often, it’s important to know how to manage your Netflix account settings. In this Netflix account management guide, I will tell you all there is to know about your Netflix account options, so you can optimize your streaming experience.
What Can You Manage in Netflix Account Settings?
In your Netflix account settings, you can update your payment method, change your plan, manage access and devices, change your password, adjust parental control settings, and transfer a profile to another account.
You can also manage your playback settings, such as subtitle appearance, default languages, autoplay, audio and video quality, and a lot more!
How to Access Netflix Account Settings

To access your Netflix account settings, open Netflix.com on your browser and sign in to your account. Then, go to netflix.com/account, where you will be able to access your settings.
Alternatively, sign in to Netflix and click on your profile (or the default profile if you didn’t create one yet).
Then, if you are on the desktop website, click on your profile icon again in the top-right corner and then click on Account to access your account settings.
On mobile, click on your profile icon in the bottom right corner and then again on your profile icon in the top-left corner. Then, click on Account to access your account settings, or click on App Settings to manage app-specific settings, such as cellular data usage, app notifications, and video download quality.
How to Manage Netflix Profiles

To create a Netflix profile, click on the plus (+) icon when logging onto Netflix. This will allow you to add a new profile.
To manage profiles on Netflix or edit profiles on desktop, go to your Account settings and click on the Profiles tab or visit netflix.com/account/profiles. Select a profile. You can then set a PIN lock for the profile, adjust the language and other playback settings, adjust parental controls for that specific profile such as maturity ratings and title restrictions, and more.
Click on Transfer a Profile to transfer the profile to another account.
On the mobile app, click on your profile icon in the bottom right corner and then again on your profile icon in the top-left corner. Then, click on Manage Profiles and select a profile to get to the profile management page.
You can also manage a child’s profile from here, whether they are using the default Kids profile or you set up a separate profile for them. To adjust parental controls, click on Adjust Parental Controls in the profile management settings (click on Viewing Restrictions on mobile). You will need to confirm your account ownership by entering a code sent to your email to verify that you are the parent before adjusting these settings.
How to Check Devices Using Your Netflix Account

Click on Access and Devices to manage signed-in devices.
To see login activity and manage account and device access on Netflix, go to your Account settings and navigate to Devices > Access & Devices.
You may need to enter an email confirmation code to confirm your account ownership. Once you do, you can see which devices recently had watching activity and for which profiles. You can log out a device to prevent them from accessing your account again (but make sure to update your password as well).
How Many Devices Can Use One Netflix Account?

Technically, there is no Netflix limit on the number of devices you can log into using the same account. However, there are restrictions regarding simultaneous streams as well as where you can log in from different devices.
The simultaneous streaming limit depends on your subscription plan. Depending on your plan, you can usually stream on between one to four devices at the same time. You can be logged into more devices, but you can’t stream on them if you go over your streaming limit.
Another restriction is how many devices can have downloaded content, even if you are not actively streaming on those devices. Depending on your plan, you can have downloads on between one to six devices.
Note that payment plan availability depends on your country. In some countries, the streaming limits may depend on available plans. For example, in the US, even the cheapest plan lets you stream on two devices at once.
Finally, another restriction is where you can log in and stream from. To discourage password sharing, which is when a group of friends purchases only one subscription and shares the password among themselves, Netflix only allows you to stream from devices within your household. Depending on your plan and country, you may be able to add an extra member or two who is not in your household for an added fee, but that person must typically be in the same country.
Netflix uses a variety of methods to figure out who is and who isn’t in your household. Typically, if the person is logging in from another house, with another IP address and Wi-Fi network, they may be blocked from logging in, or you may be able to approve them only temporarily by sending them a one-time passcode.
How to Manage Netflix Payment Methods
To manage your Netflix payment settings or update your payment method, go to Netflix.com/account in your browser and click on Manage Payment Method.
To update your card (such as updating the expiration date), click on Update next to your card. To add a different card, click on Change Payment Method.
How to Stop Automatic Payments on Netflix and Cancel Your Plan
To stop automatic payments on Netflix, you can cancel your plan to prevent recurring billing and subscription renewals. In your browser, go to netflix.com/account/membership, scroll to the bottom, and click on Cancel Membership.
Unfortunately, you cannot simply turn off recurring billing without canceling your plan.
If you can’t log into Netflix for whatever reason, contact your credit card provider and ask them to block Netflix from billing you.
How to Change or Upgrade a Netflix Subscription Plan
To change your Netflix plan or upgrade your Netflix subscription to a pricier membership plan, go to netflix.com/ChangePlan in your browser. There, you can view a plan comparison of other available plans, such as available video quality, device streaming limits, and more. Select a different plan and click on Continue to change your plan.
Conclusion
I hope this guide on how to manage your Netflix account was helpful! Netflix’s account settings can be a little difficult to navigate, especially on the mobile app, where some settings may not be available immediately within the app. Therefore, I recommend that you sign in on a browser to make it easier to navigate the settings.
