To make Safari not show bookmarks on your iPad, simply open the Safari app and make sure you're on the Start Page. If a website is already open, simply open a new, empty tab. Then tap Edit in the top right corner. You will then be able to toggle off Favorites by tapping it so that it turns white. Finally, tap X in the top left corner to save your changes and hide bookmarks in Safari on your iPad.
