At the IFA 2018, Lenovo announced its new laptop which is to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 Mobile Compute Platform. This makes Lenovo, the first technology company to announce a laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 Mobile Compute Platform on board.

The laptop named Yoga C630 WOS carries Windows 10 and supports standard Windows software. The 25-hour battery life, instant wake ability from sleep mode and constant Wi-Fi connectivity are the USPs for the device.

The laptop that weighs 1.2kg and is 12.5mm thin has a 13.3-inch full-HD IPS touchscreen, which bundles an optional Lenovo Pen. When it comes to connectivity options, the laptop carries two USB Type-C ports with USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort video output, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS, and stereo speakers.

Storage variants are available for buyers from different countries, and they comprise 4GB or 8GB RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Apart from these, there is a SIM card slot too. The Cat 18 downloads speed of up to 1.2Gbps and upload speeds of up to 150Mbps are supported by the Snapdragon X20 LTE-A modem.

The new chip was announced by Qualcomm at the Computex 2018 held in June. Snapdragon 850 which is variant of Snapdragon 845 is optimized laptops rather than the smartphones. It is made of a 10nm process with eight custom Qualcomm Kryo 385 cores running at up to 2.96GHz. Besides, the laptop houses integrated Adreno 630 graphics, dedicated blocks for image signal processing, audio, sensors, security, and artificial intelligence.

Microsoft, earlier this year, had accidentally revealed the upgrade of support for 64-bit apps to Windows on the ARM (WOA), which is seen in the device. Even though 3D games and custom drivers are not supported, the majority of the daily-use x86 apps are capable of running under emulation.

At a starting price of €999, the Yoga C630 WOS will be made available in the retail stores of Europe and various other countries by November.
