Gboard, the third-party keyboard app from Google, is testing some new features for the Android including a new in-app custom GIF maker. The features are available now for some users in the beta version of the app for Android.

The highlight among the newly tested features is the GIF maker that lets users create quick GIFs using the camera. The feature was initially made available on Gboard for iOS during January this year. Ever since, Android users were on the wait for its touchdown on Google’s operating system.

The feature appears in the form of a new Make a GIF button inside the beta version of the Gboard app. Not all users are getting access to the feature at present, as it seems that Google is rolling out the feature only for select devices. Pixel 2 is among the devices that have got the feature, but flagships like Samsung Galaxy S9 is yet devoid of the feature. The feature is still in beta, so we can expect support for more Android devices when it comes out officially in the stable version of the app.

Users with access to the feature can create a GIF by heading to the My GIFs tab from where quick animations can be created using the camera. Additionally, Google is also letting users to try out select range of filters. Captured GIFs will be saved to the My GIF tab from where it can be shared through supported apps via the Gboard app.

Additionally, Google is also rolling out new stickers for Gboard. The gallery pretty much seems like that of Allo, and it seems like Google is pushing out the gallery to the Gboard with Allo entering a period of pause. Additionally, blobmojis are also available inside the Gboard beta app now.

Interested users can get the beta version of the Gboard from APK mirror to check the new features. As for the rest, you can keep waiting and it certainly won’t take much time for the new features to hit the full version of the app.
