Here’s How to ‘Partly Recover’ Deleted Messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has recently introduced the feature called ‘Delete for Everyone’ that lets you delete wrongly sent messages within a particular time limit. This will leave the space with a message that reads ‘This message has been deleted’, making it impossible for users to read them if it’s deleted before they access it.

But that’s not exactly the case as WhatsApp’s new feature comes with certain loopholes. And what sets the ploy here is the notifications. Messages can still be read if they have appeared on your notification bar, provided that you have interacted with them. A simple dismissal of the notifications would be enough, be it with the notification bar, lock screen notifications, or floating notifications.

That comes handy in smartphones where notifications come grouped. Be that not the case, one would have already read those message from the notification. But even in the latter case, you could access the deleted message even after it gets deleted. That’s by simply accessing the notification log of your device.

Users can rely on third-party apps, like the one named Notification History, available from Play Store to access the notification log. Things are easier if you have third-party launchers like Nova, which lets you access notification log right from the home-screen. All you have to do is to place an Activity widget, under which you can access the notification log from settings. Stock Android versions also provide notification logs without the usage of any third-party apps.

Messages cannot be fully retrieved however, as only hundred characters of the message will be displayed in your notification log. Additionally, the notification log will remain only as long as your device gets rebooted. Also, users won’t be able to recover any deleted message containing media in it. So at least, the feature will remain safe for those wrongly sent messages that contain images or videos.
