LG V30 will Ditch Secondary Display to Embrace High-End Display Standards

LG will certainly be hoping to shake up its flagship device sales with the upcoming V30 post the rather dull sales of the G6. The South Korean firm apparently seems to be working on bringing some new innovations to the V30 for that matter.

One highlight of the flagship V series from LG was its secondary display. But LG seems to be giving up on that, instead embracing the latest flagship display standards of the industry. According to reports, LG V30 will axe the secondary display, but will pack an OLED display of 18:9 resolution to cut down the bezels, similar to that of G6.

The bezel-light FullVision display will also feature curved edges, and more interestingly, it will be an OLED panel that will be used for this giant display. LG has hung on to LCD panels for its recent flagship devices, and a shift to OLED will sure be a welcome change. The last time it used an OLED panel for its device was in the LG Flex 2 back in 2015.

As with the bezels, LG V30 will provide a greater reduction of bezels compared to the G6. Accordingly, the top and bottom bezels of the device will be cut down by around 20 and 50 percent respectively. LG’s logo will also be shifted to the rear side to accommodate the cut in bezels. The 6.0-inch display will also have Corning Gorilla 5 protection.

Another department which LG is working is the camera department. The V30 is expected to include an f/1.6 aperture, lower than that of the f/1.8 aperture of G6, to accommodate better low-light capabilities alongside revamping bokeh effects in the final output. This will also help reduce the software dependency for betterment of image output.

Additional features that are being reported includes support for Daydream VR, HDR 10 support, quad-DAC audio, and IP68 water resistance. Additional features are expected to be present onboard, all of which will be revealed later this month in the official launch event.
