Instagram Makes Stories Richer with Boomerang Addition and More

The Stories update from Instagram that was released earlier this year was considerably the biggest ever update for the app ever since its inception in 2010. And now it seems like the company is not putting a halt to its updates. Instagram is now adding a slew of updates which makes the Stories feature more interesting.

The first of all is the integration of Boomerang, a short-video service that was available as a separate app. Boomerang was introduced by Instagram last year to let users create short-length to-and-fro looping videos.

Instagram users will now be able to make use of the Boomerang services directly from the parent app, and it can be done simply by selecting the Boomerang option available in the new format picker under Stories cam. Entering the mode will have a series of photos captured and threaded together to form a looping video.

Besides, Instagram is also adding additional features to Stories by letting users add mentions and external links to the contents.  Adding mentions of other people is similar to how it’s done in comments and captions. Usernames will get displayed automatically if typing the ‘@’ button ahead of the name to be mentioned when adding the text for your story. Clicking on those mentions will also have a pop-up displayed which will take users to the particular profile page.

Adding external links is currently allowed only for verified accounts, and a See More tag will appear along with the provided links. The link can be accessed by either tapping on it or by swiping over it to the right.

The current update comes in version 9.7 of Instagram, and it’s available for download in Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
