Microsoft Lumia 650 XL Looks a Tad Weak, Going by a New Leak

February 10, 2016, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Looks like Microsoft’s recently rumored 650XL is the same device that was previously rumored as Lumia 850. And there might be many now wishing it had remained Lumia 850 – the reason being that a change in the series has now demoted the new Lumia to a less powerful segment.

While all the initial rumors echoed that the 850 will be packing a Snapdragon 617 SoC, it has now turned out that Lumia 650 XL would feature a Snapdragon 210/212 processor in it. The negative here is with the degraded GPU and performances, with Snapdragon 210 clocking only 1.1GHz on all of its four cores.

It’s a latest picture-enclosed leak that has revealed this detail of the new output from Microsoft. Apart from the processor speeds, it’s also being said that the Lumia 650 XL would house a 5-inch screen.

However, there have also been rumors that it could feature a bigger, 5.4-inch screen. The 720 resolution seems to be affixed no matter in which size it comes out. It’s been also said that it would feature a RAM of only 1GB, and an inbuilt storage of 8GB.

The camera is where Microsoft is bringing the XL feature alive. The 5MP front cam, which comes with a 8MP rear-cam, will be featuring a front-facing flash to vamp up self portraits in dim lights.

A non XL version of the device is also expected to show up, whose only difference would be the absence of a front-facing flash. The remaining spec-arrangements are believed to be the same.

The leaked image of the device also reflects a strong bondage with the design of Lumia 550 – the only difference being a metal body and it will have round edges.

Lumia 650 XL is expected to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, during the last week of February. It was initially believed to be coming out to the limelight at a separate event during the early weeks of this month.
