ZTE Axon Arrives with a Heart that Reaches Out to the US

Not many smartphones have arrived from China with the core purpose of attracting the market outside its home nation.

Exceptions can be found as in the case of the launch of the Mi 4i smartphone. But yet, they haven’t bothered to come outside of the shell that binds them to being cheap flagships.

But the recent period has been witnessing a shift, with the Chinese vendors deciding to step in as luxury phone manufacturers, yet tagging an affordable price.

ZTE is one such manufacturer who is having a facelift. And that’s the reason why they have kept the focus more on the product rather than on the brand name, with their new smartphone ZTE Axon.

Launched in America, the new smartphone from Axon is the affordable luxurious smartphone that has been designed specifically for the countries market.

It’s the first of smartphones from ZTE that is been designed out of China. And having it designed in the US, ZTE has made sure that they keep well aware of the demands of the markets.

Axon comes with some smart offerings that have not yet embraced the smartphone industry widely. 4K video capture is one among them, and ZTE has managed to carry it off with their dual-lens technology, like that seen in the HTC devices.

The primary cam of 13 MP is paired with 2MP camera offer post-capture focus technologies and other features. On the front is n 8MP camera, which also shows some good responses to light captures.

The curved metallic design holds a 5.5-inch screen within, and offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. What’s beneath this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz speeds.

This comes paired with a massive RAM of 4GB. Internal storage is of 32 GB, and ZTE has compromised the support for any external storage slots in the device, which could be a big disadvantage given the 4K capturing powers.

Similar to the dual-lens technology, ZTE has also borrowed another feature from the HTC devices, which is the dual front facing speaker. It boasts the Hi-Fi technology, which is claimed to be the first in a US smartphone.

The battery packed is of 3000 mAh, which may seem missing the top notch for some. But ZTE has brought in the Quick Charge 2.0 feature to boost your juice to 50% with a charging of around 30 minutes.

ZTE’s Axon is been priced at $450, and is made available in three colors: navy, gold and silver. Users can buy the smartphone from ZTE website, or from Amazon and E-bay, and can also avail a two year warranty program called the Axon Passport 1.0.
