Sony Rolls Out Web-based PlayStation Vue TV Services for PS Devices

Eyeing a cheaper online alternate to cable TV services? Sony has got the dish ready just right for you.

Being launched across a few cities across the US are the new PlayStation Vue services, Sony’s take on the web-based TV streaming services.

Available on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, the new TV stream services feature  a wide array of live TV channels, as well as video-on-demand services.


With an availability of over 85 channels, Sony does assure that it covers the list of leading names like NBC, Fox, CBS and also other regional sports and entertainment channels.

Three packages are available. The Access pack is the cheaper one that offers up to 45 channels for a charge of $49.99 a month.

An extra payment of $10 will let you avail the Core pack which will be providing various local sports channels along with the ones offered on Access.

The Elite pack which contains all of the above along with 25 lifestyle, music and family channels, will cost $69.99 a month.

Sony will also be providing a cloud-based DVR with the PS Vue subscription, which will let you capture your favorite moments from the screen for being stored for up to 28 days. The inaugural run will be across three cities of New York, Chicago and Philadelphia.

The aim is to stretch out the services to further cities, as well as to further devices which may also include non-Sony devices. Sony VP Eric Lempel has said that the Vue services will soon be introduced also on iPad devices.
