October 26, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

There is a new iOS game incoming from dreamfab, Games In Flames and Chimera Entertainment. Word Wonders: The Tower of Babel is a role playing game that mixes word puzzles with RPG features to provide some immersive entertainment.

The game combines fantasy and mystical elements that provide an adventure spanning over 50 levels. Each level brings with it a mystical opponent that you have got to defeat to gain entry to the next level.

The whole game is built upon a fable of long ago, where humanity was punished for creating the infamous Tower of Babel. The gods scattered them across the earth and confused their languages, which led the people to fight with each other, until the day a young hero rose to discover the truth about the Tower and restore the ancient language.

The game’s main mode is the Adventure Mode wherein the players don the shoes of the young hero and set out on a quest to climb the tower. Players have to scale the tower, level by level, and defeat the mystical guardians of the ancient tongue.

The adventure spans 50 stages, with each stage harboring an opponent that should be defeated using your brains and spelling. There’s a magic Boost Board that enables players to unlock special abilities and spells which help in defeating their enemies.

You can earn gold on defeating opponents and earning gold will help you to purchase upgrades for the Boost Board. Moreover, the Gold also helps to purchase ingredients for the alchemy lab where you can make healing potions and other powerful items to enhance your skills.

Word Wonders: The Tower of Babel also features a local 2-player Duel Mode. In here you can select a character from among the heroes and the mystical creatures you see in the adventure and you can challenge a friend to a word duel.

The title promises some engrossing and brain- working stages and this is one game that would help you while away your time. Word Wonders: The Tower of Babel is slated for release in November on iOS in English, French, German and Spanish; there’s also a PC version.
