Apple Offering $500 Discount on Mac Machines and More for Employees

January 26, 2012, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Ever thought of getting $500 off on Mac systems? Well, what about a $250 discount on iPads?

Tempting, right? Now it is a reality.

But for getting in to the reality, you need to be an Apple employee. Apple CEO Tim Crook, the other day, just announced some employee benefits, mainly as discounts when buying Apple products.

As per his announcement at the Town Hall session with employees, they can get a $500 discount on purchasing a new Mac machine and a $250 discount on new iPad purchases. The move comes from the Apple top brass, as part of giving back more to the people who have worked hard to make it one of the leading names in the gadget market and wealthiest corporations in the world.

Well, that is the pleasant side of the story. It has just another part.

Not everybody, who is a present employee, can get this discount. To avoid misuse, those who have been working as an Apple employee for at least 90 days is eligible for the price cut.

New recruits, please wait for three months. Then, they can’t go and get a Mac machine or iPad every day with the discount and sell it to somebody else to make some quick bucks.

The cut will come, once in three years. How then? Moreover, being an Apple employee, who is more than 90 days old and not purchased anything from Apple for the last three years, if you think of going and getting a Mac mini for just less than $99 (since its actual cost is $599 at Apple outlets), you simply can’t.

Mac mini is excluded in the price cut. To be on the safer side, Apple employees already enjoy a 25 percent discount on Macs.

But it is not yet clear if the new discount adds to it. Well, if you are still tempted, wait till June, when the new discount programme will officially kick off.
