Nokia Looking to Expand Future with High-End Windows 8 Smartphones

November 16, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Nokia had a slight slip this year in the market, but the Finnish company is looking to come back strong and reclaim the spot at the top.

Their effort to return to the top spot was initiated with the launch of the Windows Phones Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 during the Nokia World 2011 last month.

Many regions around the globe are yet to get their hands on the current Nokia Windows Phone 7 lineup, and yet the company has already started planning out their next generation devices. These next gen gadgets are rumored to be high-end fellows running on the Windows 8 operating system.

The company’s French unit head commented that the current Lumia 800 is Nokia’s BMW 5 series and the line will soon be completed just like BMW has the 3 series and 7 series.

Going by that, we can safely assume that the BMW 3 series is likely the Lumia 710, which leaves the 7 series to match with next year’s intended high-end smartphones.

Since we expected Nokia to go ahead with their lineup after the Lumia 800, there wasn’t anything new to this information. What surprised us was that Nokia is covering ground for a tablet that would be running on Windows 8.

Now that’s something to look forward to. It’s rumored that the tablet will be out by the summer of 2012.

Seems like next year Nokia is going to blow full steam and bring out some good products for us to deal with.
