All you Blackberry Bold 9900 and Curve 9360 users can smile, because there is something more that RIM is offering.

Co-CEO Jim Balsillie has announced a new feature called “Tag”, at the GITEX conference in Dubai.

The feature uses NFC technology, which was launched in the recent BlackBerry models, and will be available in the next BlackBerry OS 7 update.

BlackBerry Tag makes it simpler for BlackBerry users to connect with one another and share multimedia content taking advantage of NFC.

Just tap your smartphones together and share contact information, documents, URLs, photos, and also easily add someone as your BlackBerry Messenger contact.

Jim Balsillie said that BlackBerry Tag is an exciting and innovative feature that makes sharing contact information and multimedia content effortless and seamless.

BlackBerry Tag opens a new dimension to the BlackBerry platform that is powerful, simple and intuitive and we think it will be welcomed by both users and developers.

RIM also plans to expose Tag through APIs on BlackBerry platform, so developers and take advantage of the tap to share feature from within their own apps.

The Tag feature is subject to network operator certifications, so there is no confirmation if and when the feature will be made available. Wait for it guys.
