Sony Xperia Play Roped in as Major League Gaming Official Mobile Handset

MLG (Major League Gaming) is round the bend and what could make the event more enticing than a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play at play? Sony Ericsson and MLG – dubbed the world’s largest professional video game league and also the provider of cross platform online videogame competition – have joined hands to make the Xperia Play the official mobile handset for the event.

The device has been roped in as the official handset owing to the features that the Xperia Play boast of – which the guys at MLG thinks is mobile gaming redefined. A feature-rich smartphone and an ultimate gaming device, the Xperia Play will be showcased at the platform where demos, game challenges and giveaways would come together.

To kick off on April 1 in Dallas, the MLG 2011 season will also see Sony Ericsson sponsoring MLG Pro Player Dave ‘Walshy’ Walsh and MLG Coach Andy ‘JT Bravo’ Dudynsky for the 2011 Season. An MLG campaign material has added that Sony Ericsson will also sponsor a new video segment on later during the current year, where must-have apps and games will be the highlights.

These apart, the access to PlayStation game content via the PlayStation Suite initiative being developed at Sony Computer Entertainment and also more than 50 games from various Android publishers optimized for Xperia Play, the device need to be seen as the ultimate gaming smartphone ever. Sony is also throwing in a pre-loaded application that will allow all you gaming freaks to easily navigate and download titles optimized for game play on the device.
