AOC E800 8-inch Tablet Visits FCC; Tablet Market Has a New Addition

January 11, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

AOC has been growing their name and popularity in the arena of computer monitors for quite a while now. With tablets raining in the tech world as of late, it seems like AOC has also thought of taking the plunge.  As if in a bid to bite off a sizable chunk of the tablet market pie, AOC has line up a new slate and has passed it through the gates of FCC.

Christened E800, the AOC tablet will now be looking at bringing in the device as soon as possible, after it gets cleared by FCC.  Though not many details of the device have been revealed as yet, we have an inkling that the AOC E800 would come sporting a full 8 inches of screen real estate.

Other possible specs list could include 512MB of RAM, 2GB of flash memory and SD memory card support. Most likely to support WiFi, the tablet would also have power delivered via a 3,500mAh battery. A glance through the user’s manual however does not give us any hint as to whether 3G capabilities would be incorporated into the device.

Going by what we get to learn, AOC may not be looking at taking the Apple or Samsung slates head on. That is just a guess, we never know if AOC has packed a strong punch inside it E800 that would beat the iPads or galaxy Tabs at their own game.

We will have to keep a close watch on RadioShack listings from now on, as AOC has the practice of offering its products via their outlets. Stay tuned as we go looking for what is on the pricing front.
