Remember the latest Verizon commercial with the Stealth fighter jets dropping the bombs? Well it looks like the bombs are out and Big Red has officially started selling the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Eris at midnight in its flagship retail store on 34th Street in New York City.
Numerous reports so far have mentioned that Best Buy and Wal-Mart have already started selling the handsets from yesterday, in selective stores around the country.
So unless you got yours from the two big retailers, you’ll have to wake up early and be in Big Red stores at around 7-8AM if you want to be amongst the first to get your hands on it. If not, worry no more, Verizon is rumored to carry ample amounts of stock with the smallest shops having more than 50 units, while the larger stores range into hundreds.
Now if the iDont commercial series were not enough to understand that Verizon and Motorola are taking on AT&T and the iPhone, here’s one more. Today, Big Red has confirmed today that they’ll allow tethering on the new Motorola Droid starting early 2010, when the new Verizon Broadband Access Connect plan is in place, costing some $15 more, over what you signed for already.
If you missed the Motorola Droid news this week because you know it sees light far far away on Friday, worry no more, as Verizon has come up with a new commercial for the most hyped smartphone of the year. Everything starts in the air with a squadron of F-117 Nighthawk stealth ground attack jets that drop “da bomb” somewhere in the desert, getting everyone’s attention. “Drop Date 11/6/09″ closes the ad, which makes me think that it looks more like the trailer for the year’s best blockbuster. Don’t you think?

On November 3, 2009, that is a few hours from now, Sony Ericsson is expected to officially announce its Rachael smartphone. For those who came in late, Rachael has earlier been known in a variety of names such as Rachel, XPERIA X3 and X10 and Infinity. Whatever the name is, the device is all set to debut. The countdown has begun.
Speculations are over concerning Verizon’s new Motorola Droid as the Android-powered mobile phone has been officially introduced by Big Red, just hours ago. It’s probably the most powerful Android smartphone to date and the first to actually have a shot against Apple’s iPhone, so how about we take a better look at the device (yes we have official photos) and see what makes this little devil tick?

The mobile world was stirred by news of the upcoming release of Verizon’s Motorola Droid smartphone running on Android 2.0 “Eclair”. It was originally announced to be released on October 28, but it has now been postponed to November 6th. Verizon has been keeping the hype up on the Droid with its various iPhone spoof ads (“Everything iDon’t. Droid does.”). While no price has been officially announced, it is rumoured that it will be priced at $200 like the iPhone and will come with a 2 year contract. The Droid boasts Android 2.0 OS with an impressive 3.75 inch touchscreen, and comes with a 16GB microSD for storage.
A few days ago, news came out that Droid will not be a single phone, but a series of Verizon android handsets. The first of course, will be ‘the’ Droid, detailed above. The second one will be the Droid Eris AKA HTC Desire. Interestingly, Eris, is the Greek Goddess of strife. In all likelihood, the Droid Eris will be released, not announced, on November 6th itself. A pre-production model was obtained by BoyGeniusReport and was also shown in Verizon’s own DroidDoes campaign. It has already been added at GDGT (http://gdgt.com/htc/eris/). More details on Eris and a possible 3rd member of the Droid series, the Motorola Calgary, after the cut.
