HTC Desire to Receive DivX Support and 720p Encoding Capability through Future Updates

Seriously speaking, we are not waiting for the HTC Desire anymore for we have discussed the phone in depth on numerous occasions even though it is yet to be outed officially by a Carrier. But, what pushed us here to talk about the Sense UI laden smartphone again is the speculation that it will receive handy updates upon release. A couple of updations will endow the HTC Desire with DivX support and 720p encoding capability.

Once the HTC Desire hits the shelves, it may topple the Nexus One as the best Android thingamajig given the fact that it has Sense UI on-board, and now add to this the speculation that DivX and 720p encoding will also be rendered through future updates.

Apple iPad Release Date Updated, Debut As Scheduled This Month

This bit of information comes across as a breath of fresh air for Apple iPad freaks who had sullen faces after an AP endorsed report claiming a delayed launch of the Apple Tablet. Those faces need to cheer up as the Apple inventory is absolutely on track and the scheduled release this month will see no changes being made.

The AP report mentioned that Apple will either have to cut down on the number of units released to 300,000 in March and not a million or else the entire launch will have to be delayed as a Taiwan-based supplier of Apple products was facing production woes.

Android 2.1 on Motorola DROID Looks Promising in a Video Preview

One of the most anticipated updates of this year has been the Android 2.1 OTA release for the Motorola Droid and sadly the users of the smartphone have done nothing more than anticipating. Here is something which will give those users inspiration to go on as we get to preview the Android 2.1 performance on the Motorola Droid courtesy of a droid-life video. We fail to understand how droid-life managed to receive an official Android 2.1 update on the Motorola Droid when the Google OS update has not yet gone public.

Our doubts aside, what we get too witness in the video is a better performing touchscreen with a more responsive reaction to scrolling and pinching to zoom. (video after the cut)

Palm webOS 1.4 Update Available For Download on Sprint, O2 & Movistar Phones; Verizon Coming Soon

Although delayed for some two weeks now, the new Palm webOS 1.4.0 is finally available for download if you’re with Sprint in the US, O2 in the UK, DE & Ireland or Movistar in Europe. The new webOS update is 39MB large and bringsvideo recording, Flash, enhanced message notifications and much-desired performance and battery life improvements for your Palm Pre.

For Verizon, Bell and Telcel users, we have bad news, the new webOS 1.4 is not yet available for them, although Palm says it’s going to be “soon” — whatever soon means for them.

Valve Corporation’s Steam PC Game Client gets an Update

If you hardcore gamers have a Steam ID, here is your first chance to access the updated version of the Valve Corporation’s PC Gaming Client. The update promises better features as the brains at VC have taken care of the platforms core functionality while they have also overhauled the interface to make the experience of buying and playing games even more special.

Apparently, it is just a Beta release and therefore the extended features will require you to get in. The update offers a plethora of social features with a browser based on the Webkit engine also used by Safari and Google’s Chrome.
