I definitely will love your opinion on the image you see below (that is not mine, anyway) but that is not what we intend to discuss in this narrative. The exciting bit is that Samsung is readying its own tablet, which Samsung calls a slate PC and the product should be available in the second quarter of this year.

I run out of fingers when counting the amount of tablets arriving this year and the Samsung slate news does not do me any good in this regard.

Marvell, the chipmaker, has showcased its version of the tablet at the Future of Publishing Summit that got underway at NY City. The Marvell prototype may be seen as a reference design for a 10.1-inch Android-based color tablet , and is expected that companies would push the design as a base to make their own devices. If things work out as planned, guys at Marvell would love to see tablets based on this design to go on sale by the end of this year.

What we have been looking at till now has been a plain UI, but thinks are definitely changing as the run up to the launch is happening fast. Google has hit the nail on its head hogging up some limelight for its future super gadget, the Google Chrome OS based tablet, at a time when the world wasn’t talking anything other than the iPad. Steve Jobs must have swallowed a bitter pill when Glen Murphy, Google Chrome’s designer, posted the mock-up images of the Chrome OS tablet on Google’s official Chromium site.

Agreed that the Chrome OS tablet is in the works while the Apple iPad is far better as a finished product with its features gone public, Apple can still not afford to take Google lightly.
