We’ve discussed how the HTC Supersonic might be a threat to the Droid and Nexus One Android Supremacy and it appears that the nemesis arrival is around the corner.

We are beating the rap, courtesy of a briefly spotted glimpse of the Spring endorsed HTC Supersonic teaser video, and seemingly even the smartphone images that leaked back in January match the device spotted in the video. (video after the cut)

In an effort to boost sales, not too long ago Sprint have slashed the Palm Pixi price by a half, from $99.99 to $49.99, but from what we’re hearing, it my not be the best move when it comes to Palm Pre sales. Or that’s according to CL King analyst, Lawrence Harris, who said that “inevitably this will hurt Palm’s profits”.

Although delayed for some two weeks now, the new Palm webOS 1.4.0 is finally available for download if you’re with Sprint in the US, O2 in the UK, DE & Ireland or Movistar in Europe. The new webOS update is 39MB large and bringsvideo recording, Flash, enhanced message notifications and much-desired performance and battery life improvements for your Palm Pre.

For Verizon, Bell and Telcel users, we have bad news, the new webOS 1.4 is not yet available for them, although Palm says it’s going to be “soon” — whatever soon means for them.

The Blackberry Bold 9650 and for some the Tour 2 9650 is an eagerly awaited handset but, problems have begun right at the beginning with both contingents i.e. Sprint and VZW delaying the launch. It was Verizon that got a head-start (seemingly) as their smartphone even made it to certain stores but, stocks had to be returned for updates and the launch will now happen after the OS 5.0 arrives for the Tour 9630.

Sprint has a steadily growing WiMax network so it comes as no surprise that they are working on a 4G phone. While they haven’t officially said anything other than that the first of such devices will be launching before the end of June 2010. According the carrier’s business market president Paget Alves, the Spring 4G phone will be targeted at government and industrial clients rather than solely at consumers. Earlier tips about an HTC 4G android phone may in fact be the same device.

10 Mbps internet connectivity without the need of any cables sounds lovely and that is what WiMAX technology brings to the forefront and with Sprint announcing its first WiMAX laden handset arrival for this summer, the tech geeks are surely excited. Sprint did not mention the precise handset to be released but gadget gurus are already expecting it to be the (A9292) HTC Android Supersonic.

Sprint told Forbes about the WiMAX laden handset arrival within the first six months which has contradicted earlier reports where WiMAX capable Sprint devices were touted to arrive after Q3 2010.

There were predictions about the Sprint HTC Hero getting an Android 2.1 update in March and with this Twitter tweet, we’ve come to realize that the Sprint subscribers will have to wait till April or May this year. Other than the HTC Hero, it will be the Samsung Moment which is slated to get lucky while the ones using Motorola Cliq still have to keep refreshing the Sprint Twitter account in anticipation.

Another handset that will switch to Android 2.1 will be the Droid Eris which means that Sprint will have three smartphones running Android 2.1 in Q2 2010.

Adding to its line up of Toughbooks, Panasonic has brought to the fore a new device and is aimed at the professional on the go. The new Panasonic Toughbook H1 Field tablet computer runs Windows 7 and is powered by Intel’s 1.86GHz Z540 Atom processor. What we like about the new tablet is that the maker has designed it in such a way that it comes across as a weatherproof and shockproof model. What’s more, the dual battery ensures uninterrupted power.

The iPhone App Store is in the middle of a brewing storm. Or so it seems. The Mobile World Congress venue this morning was witness to as many as 24 leading telecommunications operators giving shape to a Wholesale Applications Community, which in effect would build an open platform that delivers applications to all mobile phone users.
Aimed at bringing together a fragmented marketplace and create an open industry platform that benefits everybody, from applications developers and network operators to mobile phone users themselves, the Wholesale Applications Community could be seen as a move that is in direct response to Apple’s success with its iPhone App Store.

Those of you who’re using Sprint should be aware that the operator is experiencing some technical difficulties right now, and if you’re expecting an important SMS message by someone who’s using Sprint’s services, you should that person right away – you likely won’t receive their message otherwise.
