Just a quick update for those who can’t wait to get their pre-order in for Apple’s iPad. While we knew for sure that it’s going to happen today March 12th, we couldn’t tell exactly when they’ll put the pre-orders page up. According to a company’s spokesman talking to TUAW, “customers can pre-order online at apple.com at 5:30am Pacific time on Friday, March 12″. That’s 8:30 in the morning for those on the East Coast.

In an effort to boost sales, not too long ago Sprint have slashed the Palm Pixi price by a half, from $99.99 to $49.99, but from what we’re hearing, it my not be the best move when it comes to Palm Pre sales. Or that’s according to CL King analyst, Lawrence Harris, who said that “inevitably this will hurt Palm’s profits”.

Week One: 20,000 units. Thus reads the sales figure for Google’s Nexus One when the first week since launch came to a close. Not so smart numbers indeed for such a smartphone that rode on so much pre-launch hype. If you thought the 20000 number is fairly okay, take a look at what the rival phones had pocketed. While the Motorola DROID touched 2,50,000, the Phone 3GS registered sales of 1,600,000 units in a week after launch. So where does that leave Nexus One?

Guess what is hotter than Harry Potter on the Amazon Pre-Order List? Windows 7 would have never been the answer given the fact Windows Vista earned itself a bed in the flophouse. Yet, to everyone’s surprise, it is Windows Seven (Windows Vista upgrade) that has set a new record on the Amazon per-order list whiffing past the Harry Potter movies, books and the rest of the collection.
As far as comparing Vista and Windows 7 goes, the orders that were booked for the upgrade in the first eight hours were more than the order for Windows Vista in its entire pre-order period.

Must say, it has been a day for some strange kind of legal ‘injunctions’ with RealDVD being held first with a preliminary injunction and now Microsoft being held from selling its very own Word with a permanent injunction. The decision passed by Judge Leonard Davis, of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas prohibits Microsoft from selling or importing any Microsoft Product to the United Sates.

The legal duel which has been on between Microsoft and i4i since the latter filed the lawsuit in March 2007 (for injunction and damages) couldn’t have found a better location than the Eastern District of Texas-a famous shelter for patent litigation.

RealNetworks’ RealDVD is a software that every technology aficionado acknowledges owing to its capability of ripping DVD movies into a computer just as you can rip those CDs. The Software has been marred with a controversy that has now seen a United States District Court passing an injunction order-meaning that the sales of the software have been put on an immediate hold, ‘until’ a decision is made.

Legal restrictions should favor the consumers, but in this case the injunction order passed by Judge Marilyn Patel does exactly the opposite.
