To be honest, I do not know anything about Ubuntu other than the fact that it is an operating system (a derivative of Linux) which runs on computers and laptops. What purpose will the operating system serve while running on a smartphone is one question I surely cannot answer. What I can tell you is that a hacker has succeeded in hacking the HTC Touch Pro 2 , the direct successor of the Touch Pro, and his smartphone runs on the dubious’ operating system.

How he managed to get the OS running on the otherwise Windows Mobile laden smartphone is again a mystery for me, thank goodness there is a video tagged along after the cut which shall at least clarify the process to you people.

When Apple launched their lawsuit against HTC earlier, most saw this as surprising and unexpected, as Apple didn’t seem to have given any clear indication of what they’re about to do. On the other hand, Yair Reiner from Oppenheimer has a different opinion on the matter, and thinks that the lawsuit was actually to be expected.

We’ve discussed how the HTC Supersonic might be a threat to the Droid and Nexus One Android Supremacy and it appears that the nemesis arrival is around the corner.

We are beating the rap, courtesy of a briefly spotted glimpse of the Spring endorsed HTC Supersonic teaser video, and seemingly even the smartphone images that leaked back in January match the device spotted in the video. (video after the cut)

In the gadget world, the most hyped doodads loose their popularity in a matter of hours, and soon the top-notch Android devices like the Nexus One and the Droid might be facing the same phenomenon, courtesy-Sprint HTC Supersonic.

If the Sprint device arrives with Android 3.0, the most upgraded Android OS version, the Nexus One and Droid will appear sad as they currently run on Android 2.1. HTC Supersonic with Android 3.0 is a discreet possibility with constant rumors forcing us to believe it, though the Supersonic arrival may get a different response if 2.1 is what it will eventually feature.

Until February this year, the HTC Incredible wasn’t all that popular a name but within a month, this HTC smartphone is the most talked about device apparently. The latest bit of information regarding this Verizon bound handset is that it will feature a red button and a red back cover. The images are a proof enough just in case you doubted the authenticity and these flicks come from androidforums.

With all the recent talk about the lawsuit launched by Apple against HTC over patent infringements, it was curious to see when Google would finally actually react – after all, the whole ordeal seems to revolve around the operating system on HTC’s device, the Android.

Apple seem to have gone on quite the crusade there. It’s only been a few months after they attacked Nokia with lawsuits over 13 of their phone patents, and now they’re at it again, this time getting ready to sue HTC for the very same reasons.

HTC gave a slight hint at the possibility of a Windows Phone 7 update for their HTC HD2, but this all fell apart now as Microsoft denied this. The reason they’ve given is rather odd – the device apparently has too many buttons.

Google’s Nexus One Android smartphone entered the market with support for T-Mobile’s 3G network. A version compatible with Verizon’s CDMA network as well as Vodafone in Europe was said to be in the works. It wasn’t ready for launch at the time of launch of the current HSPA version. According the earlier announcements, the device was supposed to go on sale in Spring 2010. Now it has come to news that the CDMA Nexus One has cleared the FCC.
