It seems like almost every carrier out there with newer Android phones are preparing to roll out Android 2.1 updates on their networks. According to AndroidCentral, an update for the Sprint HTC Hero and Samsung Moment can be expected “within weeks”. The news came along with Sprint’s announcement about the pending availability of the Nexus One on their network.

The much hyped and rumored HTC Legend has finally arrived.
A successor to the HTC Hero that the company has introduced last year, the new Legend has been confirmed to run Android 2.1, to feature a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen (320 X 480 HVGA resolutions), 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, HTC Sense UI and a rather stylish brushed aluminum body that adds an optical trackball.
Other specs include Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSPA/WCDMA support, GPS, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 2.1, a digital compass, standard microUSB or a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, but for the full details hit the break.

Well, the header says it all but what it does not reveal is that the Android 2.1 goodness may not arrive in the US at the moment though exporting the ROM is always a smart move in such cases. As much as we do not understand all Android running devices not getting the 2.1 update collectivity, we’ve loved to hear that the Android 2.1 update is finally ready for the HTC Hero and Motorola Cliq. Nexus One and the Droid were popular names with Android 2.1 intact but that privilege will now be shared and therefore both, CLIQ and the Hero could do some fame-gaining again.

Russians were a bit let down by HTC when they didn’t get the HTC Hero for their country, but that’s about to change. HTC’s Russian fans will soon get to enjoy the Hero, as was made apparent by a series of events by HTC.

HTC’s 2010 roadmap got leaked recently, and it revealed some details about an upcoming model, the Legend. The device has just been shown to the public, and it looks very similar to the HTC Hero, both in terms of visuals and specifications. The Legend will use a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor – while it’s not anywhere near the Snapdragon in productivity, it’s still pretty fast – after all, it’s a processor designed for budget smartphones.

Android 2.0 which is unarguably the best version of the Google Mobile OS just went public yesterday and it already seems to be gettingĀ ‘more’ popular. After the Motorola baby Droid, HTC Hero will become the second smartphone to run Android 2.0 as confirmed through an official HTC Tweet.

The exact date for the Eclair update hasn’t been mentioned but this update implies that HTC will now let go the 1.6 update which was otherwise due for the Hero.

Sprint has finally managed to rope in the HTC Hero and although this isn’t an exclusive Sprint model, we are still pleased with the development. Barring a few specifications there isn’t much that changes and as far as the model is concerned, it is the Hero without the Chin that is actually the final model. The additional details include the availability of Sprint TV and the Sense UI. The phone should be available from October 11th and will be priced $179.99. Hit the jump for exact details.

With Android (the Open Source Platform) being the buzz word, why should Orange lag behind . It any case it is just about a perfect grab and will serve as the launching carrier for the third Android phone from HTC, dubbed Hero. There are no confusions about the release month (July) but what is being speculated is a new User Interface.
