The So SuperSpeed Hard Drives (HDDs), which have been much anticipated from the house of Dane-Elec, will hit the US mart on December 11, 2009. The new series of USB 3.0 external drives will come loaded with storage options ranging from 500 GB to 2 TB. The series will also include the world’s first USB 3.0 Solid State Drive (SSD), which would have the capability of true data transfer speeds of up to 250MB per second.

The data transfer speeds of up to 250MBps would, in fact, be close to 10 times the rate available in current USB 2.0 devices. To be available in 2.5 or 3.5-inches formats for laptops and desktop computers, the new series of external drives will support the upcoming USB 3.0 standard, Dane-Elec said.

Though it looks a lot like a portable drinking bottle, what you see here is the ultra stylish Iomega eGo 320 GB rugged portable hard drive. Using a USB 1.1/2.0 power cable to connect to your laptop or computer (no external power needed), the 2.5-inch super compact device is extremely durable because it uses the patent pending DropGuard technology.
It comes packed with a free EMC Retrospect HD backup software license, has an 8MB buffer size, rotates at 5,400 and only weighs 5.8 ounces. It sells on Amazon for some $102
. Fast, extremely durable and stylish, it looks like a real jewel of an external hard drive, don’t you think?
