Do you ever expect an e-reader maker to make something out of its technology for the iPad? If you haven’t yet thought of such a possibility, here is something that can give you reasons to deliberate on. Barnes & Noble is, in fact, working on a B&N e-reader for iPad application.

Though iPad-maker Apple has not yet commented on the move, we hope that Apple may not say no to competition. But then, we will have to wait to know.

The e-book download business certainly seems to be run differently than its music download counterpart – at least if we take certain events as an indication, such as the latest announcement by Barnes & Noble. According to them, their B&N eReader app will be made available for Apple’s iPad sometime around the device’s launch.

Here’s some disappointment coming your way. Acer’s plans to hop on to the e-reader bandwagon have been kept in the freezer, at least for now. The reason being said is that Acer would like to learn how feasible its business model would be than go for a product at the moment. It seems like the world’s second largest PC maker thinks that the e-reader market would take a while to evolve and prove itself.

Amazon and Macmillan have finally called off their pricing dispute after days of wrangling over pricing of books. With the new settlement, books by Macmillan authors are queuing up to be back on sale on Amazon’s Web site. The agreement on a new model is what Amazon has resorted to and this could be seen as Amazon’s climb down, acknowledging the arrival of a rival in the form of the Apple iPad, which could have been a threat to its Kindle franchise and domination of e-books.

It seems like a truce, at least for the time being, has been called on the e-reader warzone. Publisher Macmillan’s stance could lead to the online retailer raising prices on some of its e-books Amazon has connected with customers through a message on its website, which reads: “We will have to capitulate and accept Macmillan’s terms because Macmillan has a monopoly over their own titles, and we will want to offer them to you even at prices we believe are needlessly high for e-books.”
