Sony has finally bettered Microsoft in the consoles war by offering HD movies on the PS3 but there are still some points where Xbox takes the charge; for instance the exclusivity of the the first two map packs for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 for the first 30 days.

The first down-loadable content for Modern Warfare 2 was confirmed by Infinity Ward itself and it will be released for the Xbox 360 on March 30. Sony PS3 owners will have to bear the pain of waiting for the first Modern Warfare 2 DLC until the end of April this year.

The first BioShock game didn’t enjoy a lot of developer attention in terms of DLC content – just some new abilities and a bunch of extra challenge levels for the PS3 version. 2K Marin, the developers behind BioShock 2, have stated that BioShock 2 will receive a lot of DLC, delivered through an “aggressive” campaign.

In a keynote at the CES 2010, Microsoft revealed that Modern Warfare 2 will receive more than one DLC pack this spring. This has been confirmed in the statement “This spring, the first content packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from Activision will be available, again, exclusively first on Xbox 360,” made by Robbie Bach.

The “minis” – small, very cheap games which are currently downloadable for the PSP – will soon be made available on the PS3 as well, according to Sony Computer Entertainment, who’ve revealed this when unveiling the latest update to the PS3’s firmware, version 3.15. The update should be released very soon and will be optional, and the majority of the games will be playable on the PS3 on December 17.

Modern Warfare 2, one of the hit titles in the first person shooter genre, is probably going to receive a massive content update sometime around the spring, according to Infinity Ward, the game’s developers. The game is currently bustling with players, and has overtaken many games in terms of player counts. The game’s popularity is still on the rise, and this can be attributed to many factors.
