Google’s Nexus One is one of the most thought after mobile phones these days, but while hot among tech-savvy users, we’re not quite sure if regular users think the same. But enough talk guys, as we have some sales figures coming in, saying that Google sold 135,000 Nexus One handsets in 74 days.

Just how good is that compared to 1.05 million units for Motorola DROID and 1 million iPhones for the exact same period?

Now amidst all this, consider this leaked memo for the VZW staff members which shows how hopeful Big Red is about the iPad arrival despite the prevalent hopelessness.

Apple is never thinking about VZW apparently but, VZW is thinking of making some good money with the Apple iPad for which the staff members are being given tips as reflected in this memo.

It is intriguing to see the way AT&T always tries to stamp its authority on all its products by coming up with some complication or the other and this time, it is the just outed Motorola Backflip which is at the recipient end. The version of Google Android OS running on the Motorola Backflip behaves differently from the way it runs on other smartphones-it does not support unofficial Android applications.

It is a complicated thing to run an unofficial app. on an Android device as it demands a developers kit, so the layman isn’t concerned or interested about this report but, the drawback still exists.

Those across the Atlantic who hate Europeans for getting all of HTC’s latest smartphones in the coming weeks, are in for a treat as we’re hearing that AT&T is going to debut the HTC Desire for its customers, sometime in May or June. It goes without saying that we know AT&T may not be your favorite carrier, but if things turn out to be true, you’ll have one of the world’s most powerful Android-powered smartphone on sale in the US.

With T-Mobile and Big Red swelling their Android powered smartphones list, AT&T cannot afford to relax and hence it has announced its first Android OS phone-Motorola Backflip- for a March 7 release. AT&T admirers can be rest assured of the phone arrival as it is not a scoop but a confirmed development coming from the carrier itself. Motorola Backflip is a MOTOBLUR enabled device which will cost $100 (after a $100 mail-in-rebate) on a two-year data and voice contract.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is one of the most sought after smartphones ever since its announcement but the same hasn’t been given a release date until now. Speculation is now ripe that the Xperia X10 will be hitting AT&T shelves as early as April or May this year and AT&T will offer it for $199 on a two year contract. There have been rumors earlier where the Xperia X10 was thought to be fetching a higher price but most users will prefer the handset for $199 or even less if this scoop turns out to be true.

You may shun the movie Twilight with caustic criticism for being a girl fantasy film but you will sure not criticize the ‘rip off’ Verizon advert that targets the poor AT&T 3G network. With the festivities over and things getting to the business end in the second month of 2010, the two giants have drawn their daggers yet again, putting an end to the notion that things have improved with the year changing.
