While the world eagerly awaits the next generation Apple iPhone, we are getting hints about the probable future iPhone 4G features, courtesy of the iPhone 3.2 beta SDK. It was the same SDK which made experts speculate the front-facing camera notion as the update facilitates video calling and interestingly, Vodafone upped the tariffs to accommodate video calling charges in future for the iPhone, which somewhat guarantees the front-facing camera presence on iPhone 4G.

Now iPhone 3.2 beta SDK has revealed support for some ‘novel gestures’ and the same could be available on the iPhone 4G which is yet to be detailed in any context.

After a not so comfortable attempt that fell flat in October, Apple is doing it again. As everyone is aware, Apple had last October tried to pierce the China mart with its iPhone. But then Apple and the carrier – Unicom – were directed by the China government to put into use the Chinese standard of Wi-Fi called WAPI and not Wi-Fi. Things had taken a lousy turn and Apple called it quits.  Apple is now bouncing back with a vengeance, it seems.

The Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week will likely show products that will end the debate for good.

The iPhone 4.0 face plate revealing image was posted by iResQ which is an iPhone repair website. A repair website giving away a scoop got to involve Apple’s sanction somewhere given the fact that Cupertino is very particular about such details being leaked.

The image reveals a broader front panel which has a reflective surface above the speaker (check image). The reflective surface can be a proximity sensor which gives us a hint as to what Apple wants to achieve with its next generation of smartphones.

Opera is all set to introduce the Opera Mini browser for your iPhone. The launch, scheduled for the Mobile World Congress, is expected to be a gala affair and people are already starting to talk about it. We however are keeping our fingers crossed on how Apple is going to react to the launch when it already thinks any other such browsers would rival its own Safari. The scene looks like really racing towards a showdown.

In a definite U-turn on its earlier agenda of denying iPhone users the ability of streaming Sling over 3G, AT&T has gone back on the decision. The wireless network has now decided to support Sling Media’s SlingPlayer Mobile app over its 3G mobile broadband network.

All Nokia smartphone users now can boast of a direction! The new Ovi Maps version that Nokia is planning to bring on to all its smartphones will be something unique for a handset. We never knew Nokia was working seriously on this ever since it bought out mapping and navigation company Navteq back in 2007 for a sum of $8.1 billion. Android phones will garner a major share of the AT&T services with the carrier announcing that it would sell smartphones running the Android mobile operating system by the second half of the year. The carrier will see at least five new smartphones that would run the Android mobile OS. These could include Dell’s upcoming smartphone, and also the devices being line up by Motorola and HTC.
