While the world is buzzing with the Android gong, for the Canadians, the noise fell on dumb ears until now when Canadian carrier Telus decided to introduce the first Android smartphone for the country- Motorola MILESTONE. Rogers did experience the disaster with the Dream and Magic smartphones but in this case, the Telus Motorola MILESTONE is an offering that can challenge the might of the best in the market viz. Apple iPhone 3GS.

It is finally here people! Motorola Devour, the phone that aims to make Android common (well, even more) has been spotted in the box hinting a launch sometime soon. Motorola has been successful promoting the Cliq feature at T-Mobile and now with the Motorola Devour arrival a reality, Motorola will lay emphasis on the MOTORBLUR interface. Devour will be a lowly priced Android alternative that is indeed the first Android 2.0 handset to use the MOTOBLUR interface.

Experts will definitely await the unboxing of the Motorola Devour as it shuns the customary trackpad for a stylish D-pad, an optical sensor laden trackpad which imparts build quality to the gadget.

An Android update is such an important thing for smartphones given the rage for Google OS based devices in the market and therefore the news of the HTC Hero getting an Android 2.0 update in March raises a few brows. All OS updates i.e 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1 will be delayed until March as per an unofficial source that is certain about the delay.

The delay is a consequence of HTC trying to tightly integrate the HTC Sense UI with the Android 2.0 and other versions of the software. The positive thing is that the HTC Hero might jump straight away from version 1.5 to 2.1 without wasting time in minor intermediate updates.

Some of us are used to dreaming of technology being sold exclusively to Koreans, like the Motorola Motoroi – however, things seem to be changing, as Motorola are about to release their Android 2.0 handset in the US – with the release date being set to somewhere in March. There’s no specific details for other countries or continents, but at least they mentioned that the US won’t be the only ones who’ll get to enjoy the Motoroi.

The HTC Passion was rumored to be coming out around the middle of December, but this was recently denied, as Digitimes made a report that the Passion has been put off by a few months, and is now expected to come out somewhere around the first quarter of 2010.

Android 2.0 which is unarguably the best version of the Google Mobile OS just went public yesterday and it already seems to be gettingĀ ‘more’ popular. After the Motorola baby Droid, HTC Hero will become the second smartphone to run Android 2.0 as confirmed through an official HTC Tweet.

The exact date for the Eclair update hasn’t been mentioned but this update implies that HTC will now let go the 1.6 update which was otherwise due for the Hero.

Verizon has been kicking up a lot of hype the last few months with its upcoming Droid series of smartphones. The two smartphones from Motorola and HTC, the Motorola Droid an Droid Eris ( AKA HTC Desire ) respectively, will be released on Verizon next week.

The new phones both run on the popular Google Android OS along with UI enhancements from the respective manufacturers. Droid has been hyped so much that Verizon’s stock rose just on the basis of an early review in a popular blog.

For a few, the term Google Phone 2.0 is absolutely alien so they need to be told that it is just another name for the second version of the Google mobile OS, Android. The much anticipated Motorola Droid is the one that is powered by this OS, just to make things a little more explicable. Also, another clarification needed before we tell you more about Android 2.0 is that Google is not at all readying its own handset and therefore Google 2.0 is not a name of any handset coming in the future.
