The fresh arrivals will include a 27-inch diagonal LED-backlit cinema display which is the second product of this category after the 24-inch model to which the 27-inch upcoming variant bears close semblance.

LG Display’s new Capacitive In-Cell Multi-Touch LCD panel has been given the go ahead by Microsoft with a Windows 7 Touch Logo certification. The 13.3-inch panel, that comes across a perfect fit for laptops with multi-touch functions that enable simultaneous recognition of two touch points, has in-cell touch sensor embedded in the display. The sensors have been built into the panel.

The Super AMOLED is quite the bone of contention amongst cellphone manufactures but Samsung leads the race obviously because Samsung was the one to develop it. Speculation is now ripe that the next generation iPhone might also feature the Super AMOLED display although this may lead to power concerns on the smartphone. LG is bringing to the market place a bunch of new ultra slim LCDs under the EX-series. Believed to be a product of a unique Green Energy Saving technology compared with the conventional LCD monitor, the EX-series boasts of up to 40 per cent energy savings. Sounds good, indeed.

Toshiba Corp is planning to exit the LCD production scene. Increasing losses seem to have prompted such a move, as was evident from the results announcement over the past weekend. With LCD business soon to go off the Toshiba portfolio, the company hopes that the plummeting of sales owing to less demand, price dip and a strong yen could be checked.

CES 2010 as always was a mega event but for some reason Panasonic chose not to unveil its latest lineage of G2 HDTV’s at the event. Whatever was the intent behind keeping the latest HDTV series away from the event, considering what Panasonic is offering, it is surely a nice surprise for gadget freaks.

Announced by Panasonic Japan, the G2 series will debut in the local market on February 5 but there is still no information about the HDTVs that broke cover at the CES.
