Nokia Reportedly Ready to Launch Its Flagship Device with In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

Soon, the Nokia 8 Sirocco might handover its flagship status to a new member in the family. If recent reports are to be believed, the Finland manufacturer is prepping up a new flagship device that would put down all the prevailing drawbacks of the Sirocco.

The device is being called Nokia 9, though it’s internally called as A1 Plus, A1P, and AOP. This is very much in line with the internal names of the Nokia 8, which was called A1N inside the company before it was unveiled to the world.

The biggest update in Nokia 9 would be the jump to Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, the snapdragon 845 SoC. The Nokia 8 Sirocco featured the Snapdragon 835 SoC, which still is among the top processors available in the market. However, the upgrade to 845 will put Nokia 9 among the top-end flagship devices.

Additionally, the Nokia 9 is also reported to be packing in-display fingerprint sensor, similar to what we have seen in Vivo X21 and Xiaomi Mi8 devices.

The Nokia 9 is also said to be including a high-risk camera according to WinFuture. We are not pretty sure what that could mean. It could probably be a hint for the introduction of the penta-lens camera that was previously rumored with a Pro edition of the Nokia 8 that never made out. Earlier rumors also point towards a triple-lens camera system with 41MP main sensor. So we will have to wait to get more clarity on this.

What’s assured is a smoother experience of the Android given Nokia’s policy of keeping the OS close to the stock Android. Pair it with the flagship chipset, and Nokia 9 could certainly topple some benchmark scores with its hardware.
