Google Likely to Launch Pixel-Branded Smartwatches alongside Pixel 3

It’s no big secret that Google would be launching the third successive iteration of its Pixel branded smartphones this year. While official words are yet to arrive, leaks and reports have started pointing towards a fall release for the smartphone release.

That pretty much falls in line with the usual period of launch for the Pixel smartphones. Google launched its Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices on October 4, and it appears that Google will have the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices launched around the same date this year.

Interestingly, Google has upped the event to be more of a collective launch rather than just a Pixel-exclusive launch with the launch of Pixel 2. This years’ event too could follow a similar path. But instead of portable speaker, it would be a wearable that would share the space along with Pixel this year.

Reports claim that Google will have a Pixel-branded smartwatch launched this year along with the Pixel smartphones. The info comes from popular tipster Evan Blass, so we are looking into something promising this year.

Additionally, Qualcomm had earlier confirmed that it would launch the new edition of its wearable processor later this year. Dubbed as the SD Wear 3100, the new processor was said to be launched by fall alongside an exclusive smartwatch, which could very well be the Pixel branded smartwatch. Google had only recently updated its Android Wear OS to Wear OS, and the addition of some new processor could really shake up the smartwatch industry.

Additional reports also throw light over Google planning to come up with three editions of its smartwatches, codenamed ‘Ling’, ‘Triton’, and ‘Sardine’. We will have to see what draws the line between these three editions, though one could be expected to be an LTE-backed variant.
