Oppo R15 is Here to Unofficially Tease the OnePlus 6 Flagship

Oppo has finally taken the wraps off its R15 smartphone. The device, which was kept rumored for quite a time, comes embracing the notch trend alongside trimming down the side bezels. Oppo still has left some bezel space untouched at the bottom part, but still manages to make an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 90%.

The R15 features a 6.28-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2280×1080 and aspect ratio of 19:9. That extra pixel across the breadth is to accommodate the top notch in the device. A front-facing camera and an earpiece sit along the notch, and the lack of any complex sensors had helped Oppo cut down the width of the notch by a noticeable margin.

Oppo has also managed to beef up the specs. With 6GB RAM under its hood, the R15 features 128GB of internal storage. The heart of the device is the MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor. The rear-side features a horizontally arranged dual-camera setup with fingerprint sensors placed well below for ease of use.

The R15 was today launched in China, and it would barely come out of the Asian boundaries. But what makes the launch interesting is the prospect of OnePlus 6 bearing a similar design. OnePlus, a sibling company of Oppo, has been embracing designs of Oppo devices for the past few editions. And if that’s to go by, the OnePlus 6 should feature a design no different than the R15. This would mean the presence of notch, lesser side bezels, horizontally arranged camera, and a centrally placed fingerprint sensor on the upcoming flagship of OnePlus.

The similarity would be constricted to the design, as OnePlus 6 will definitely have bettered specs inside. The device will be launching with Snapdragon 825 SoC from Qualcomm and 8GB of RAM, though we have to wait to see if there would be a 6GB version. Additionally, the display specifications could also change, considering that adding a notch alone would seldom make it stand apart from the remaining flagship devices in the market today.
