Lava Z50 First Android Go Smartphone in Indian Market

Companies like Nokia, ZTE and Alcatel had launched their Android Go smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. Meanwhile, Indian phone maker Lava International Ltd launched its new handset Z50 in India and the device also runs Android Go.

Significant about this launch is the fact that Z50 is the first Android Go smartphone in India. The handset will be available in over 100,000 outlets of the Indian market after March 15 at INR 5,000.

Lava Z50 runs Android Oreo Go Edition. This is an optimized version of Android Oreo used for low configuration smart phones and can run Lite versions of Google apps which consumes less storage space and data. Thus the handset comes preloaded with alternative lite applications such as Assistant Go, Maps Go, Gmail Go and YouTube Go instead of the regular Google Assistant, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube.

Lava Z 50, a typical budget phone, runs on MediaTek’s entry level MT6737m processor. The phone with an internal storage of 8GB sports 1GB RAM. Even though the phone has a resolution of just 854x480p, the 4.5 inch display is big enough for a casual user.

Even though Lava Z50 comes at INR 5000, there are handsets which are far better and available at the same prize.  Amazon’s 10Or D is sold at INR  4999 and comes with a resolution 5.2 inch screen of resolution 1,280 x 720p. The handset powered by Qualcomm Snapdrgon 425 quad-core processor runs on Android 7.1. It comes with an internal storage of 16GB and 2GB RAM. Besides, Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A is which is similar to that of Amazon 10Or D is better when compared to Lava Z50, except for its processor MIUI 9.
