February 3, 2018, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Most of the superhero movies feature stylish automobiles. Most of these are not out in the market and the dream of driving the vehicle remains a dream. In the 2015 Avenger movie, Scarlett Johansson’s character Black Widow was seen speeding through the traffic on a sleek motorcycle. The same mean machine will be available for non-superheroes as Harley-Davidson’s first e-bike.

With its launch, the company is heading for an expansion into all-electric terrain. The e- bike is expected to launch with the next 18 months. Earlier this week, Harley-Davidson had outlined its plans for Project LiveWire electric motorcycle to go from prototype to real. The LiveWire concept which accelerates from zero to 60 mph in four seconds was shown off in 2014.

By 2020, the concept motorcycle was first seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, will be available for the public to lay their hands on. Neither the details about the capabilities and features nor its name are yet to be revealed.

California-based Zero Motorcycles already offers electric bikes. One of its bikes – Zero S – with its compact frame and battery can reach up to 223 miles of city ride. There is also news that competitors like Yamaha are developing an electric motorcycle concept.  The price for Harley’s electric bike is not yet out but price for most of the current models starts at around $11,000.

According to Harley Owners Group (HOG), an electric vehicle will draw new customers who are ready to consider a motorcycle that is quieter and without associated stereotypes of middle-aged men in a mid-life crisis. Lately, there is a decline in motorcycle sales globally as well as in the U.S market. It is amidst this the announcement on latest product has come.
