Xiaomi Mi 7 May Not Arrive in Time for MWC

Xiaomi lovers who were eagerly waiting for the launch of Mi 7 will have to wait further. The Mi 7 which is rumored to be equipped with a wireless charger facility is one of the Xiaomi flagships smartphone enthusiasts had been longing for.

Earlier there were reports that the smart phone will be launched at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). However, we now hear that MWC will not stage any major announcements from Xiaomi this time around. At the same time, China-based micro blogging site Weibo has reported that Xiaomi will launch Mi Mix 2S, successor of Mi Mix 2 at this year’s Mobile World Congress.

A series of smart phones by Xiaomi were to be announced at the MWC 2018, according to the earlier reports. Denying all such rumors, the latest reports claim that the Chinese manufacturer will launch only Mi Mix 2S along with its new Surge S2 chipset.

We might get to see major improvements in the Mi Mix 2S, compared with Xiaomi’s previous device Mi Mix 2. Mi Mix 2S, which is expected to have a similar design of that of Mi Mix 2, will come with improved camera, software and hardware features. The smart phone will also feature nearly 100 per cent bezel less display. As per the details available, the fingerprint sensor will be set adjacent to the back camera.

We will have to wait further to see the launch of Mi 7 or Redmi note 5 or Mi Note 3, with Xiaomi’s rivals such as LG, HTC and Huawei all set to launch their devices G7, U12 and P11 respectively. Apart from this, smartphone giants such as Samsung, Sony and HMD Global are also making their major announcements at MWC 2018. Samsung will be seen launching its much awaited Galaxy S9 and S9+ while Sony is all set to announce its Xperia XZ Pro A series .

Though there are rumors that the Mi 7 will go official within a few months, the exact launch details are not yet out. The smartphone, which will run Android Oreo OS, will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest processor Snapdragon 845. The device which is expected to have an 18:9 display and will also sport dual cameras at the rear. The device is expected to come with a starting price of $475.
