Go Solo with the New ElectraMeccanica Solo

January 22, 2018, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

If you are someone who is not very fond of huge four-seater vehicles, loves to go for a drive alone and always think about going green, this is exactly the car you should opt for. Canadian startup ElectraMeccanica Vehicles Corp is bringing to people like its Solo, which is worth $15,500.

The car specially designed for urban commuting crowds can cover up to 100 mile range. The ability to hit 85 MPH makes it legal to be driven on highways. The car is qualified to access HOV lanes in various states as it is wholly electrical.

To strike full capacity, the lithium-ion battery pack would have to be charged for around 6 hours on 110V. Basic features such as heated seat and radio are provided in its self-effacing interior.

The Solo boasts a carry-on luggage size compartment in its front boot, though it has a cargo space with a storage nook in addition to this.

ElectraMeccanica has priced the car at $15,500 at the moment, but if you are lucky enough, qualifying state tax credits would help drop the maximum retail price by up to $5,000. The company expects to begin shipping Solos out to buyers who are interested and have deposited a refundable amount of $250, by the end of 2018.  Are you among those lucky fellas?
