Huawei All Set to Unleash Triple Lens Cameras on Smartphone

January 17, 2018, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

With dual-camera almost becoming a standard norm in smartphones, it was just a matter of time for the manufacturers to push to the next gear. And it appears that Huawei will be the one to make that leap.

The Chinese manufacturers are now said to be working over introduction of a triple-lens camera system for its upcoming flagship device from the P series. Though official words are yet to come out, rumors have started circulating carrying along with it, sketches of what appears to be the next breakthrough technology in smartphone cameras.

This is backed by Huawei’s constant association with Leica in the optics field. According to Evan Blass, the upcoming flagship from the P series might be equipped with a 40-MP camera from Leica that would incorporate a triple-lens setup.

While the purposes of lens individually still remains a mystery, we can assume them to work together to deliver images of such high resolution. In addition to that, the triple-camera system is also said to be having a 5x hybrid zoom capability. The triple-sensors will be accompanied by a 24-MP sensor on the front if rumors are to be believed.

The aforesaid triple-camera device will be finding place only in the Pro version of the device, which also deviates from the standard and Plus versions of the device in terms of display. While the latter two are said to be coming out with 18:9 displays similar to that of in Mate 9, the Pro version is said to pack a bezel-less display similar to the ones used in iPhone X.

It would mean that Huawei’s Pro version of the flagship would bear the notch as seen in iPhone X on the top. But given the designs and sketches, Huawei’s notch appears to be a less broad one. The fingerprint sensors will be pushed to the rear-side of the device in-order to skip the bezels in the bottom.

We still don’t have any official word regarding the device, and neither do we have a confirmation on what it will be called. While P11 is the name we are expecting following the sequence, some rumors have pointed that Huawei will be introducing the device as Huawei P20. All these still remain as rumors, but Huawei is one name which have always brought around some niche technologies. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if all these comes alive.
