Six months since Amazon and Microsoft shook hands for coupling Windows 10 with Alexa, we are having the initial signs of its arrival. At CES 2018, a slew of devices were lined up to showcase the debut of Alexa on Windows 10 PCs.

Those include the top vendors like Acer, Asus, HP and Lenovo, all of whom are now prepping up to integrate the Alexa voice assistant on their upcoming notebooks and desktops. Current users won’t be missing out on Alexa, as they have promised that Alexa will be made available on select devices through updates.

Acer’s batch of Alexa-supported devices include Aspire, Spin, Switch, and Swift notebook series. The newly launched Swift 7 and Spin notebooks will come with Alexa pre-loaded like Cortana, while the remaining entries will receive Alexa via Acer Care Centre by the mid of 2018. With the official entry, Alexa will be capable of accessing calendars and lists in addition to replying through voice commands. Additional hands-free commands will also be enabled to let users perform multiple operations using the personal assistant from Amazon.

As with HP, the Pavilion Wave will be the first to come designed specifically with offerings for voice interactions via Amazon Alexa. There are also additional LED indicators dedicated to Alexa to make an Echo-like feel. The Pavilion Wave will be launching in spring this year, with a starting price of $550.

With Alexa’s entry to Windows 10 devices, the digital assistant now poses a greater threat to Siri and Google Assistant. Needless to say that Alexa will instantly eclipse native assistant Cortana with its humungous count of skills. Amazon has also earlier launched Alexa Mobile Accessory kit, opening the gates for Alexa to headphones, smartwatches and fitness devices.
