LG is all set to wow consumers with some surprises at CES this year. The company has already revealed its smartphone and speaker plans for CES. And now, LG is revealing what it’s holding under its sleeves for the television department.

Upcoming CES would witness the showcasing of massive 88-inch OLED TV from the South Korean manufacturers. With that measurement, LG still won’t beat the world’s biggest display in a TV, but it definitely seats atop in terms of largest OLED panel. Besides, it’s also the TV with the largest count of pixels, as LG’s upcoming beast will be packing an 8K resolution.

The place was held by LG’s 77-inch TV, which only featured 4K resolution. With double the resolution and more screen space, LG is definitely placing a sight on the future. At present, 8K display definitely seems pointless, given the amount one would have to spend for the device. In addition, LG’s 8K TV would only be upscaling 4K contents are we are yet to witness native 8K contents whether in physical form or digital.

But that was the same when 4K displays were forayed into the market by vendors. It may take time, but LG can definitely boast of its achievement when the time comes. Moreover, CES is always the platform to showcase what they hold for the future, and LG is just following the same.

As with the TV, there is no information available with the pricing. LG’s 77-inch TV costs a whopping $20,000. So expect nothing less than that for a TV with double the resolution.
