Samsung’s Next Flagship Note Holds Prospects of Being a Foldable Smartphone

September 12, 2017, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Samsung has got much love for curved displays, or rather foldable phones in particular. Though revealing its affection for the latter publicly more than a couple of times, it has never gave us an insight of the possible outcomes with the same, only until now.

The company for the first ever time has revealed what it holds under its sleeves with regard to foldable phones. And if everything goes well, the next big Galaxy apart from the flagship S series would be the one to boast a foldable display.

It’s now reported that the company is working upon introducing foldable screen in its Note series. Samsung has already instilled flexible OLED panels in the Note series in the form of Infinity Display this year with the Note 8. But it would have to toil much more than that to bring out a truly foldable phone.

According to the current timeframe, Note 9 will be the device that will boast foldable display, given its intention to bring out the device in 2018. But Samsung do admits that it won’t be a walk in the park. There are still plenty of hurdles up ahead for the company to overcome, the failure of which will push the release to the following year. But at least it’s a good sign that they won’t be giving up.

As indicated by the words of Dongjin Koh, president of Samsung’s mobile business, the South Korean vendors won’t be rushing to bring out a foldable smartphone as it prioritizes to bring out a very good product. It’s a gamble wise not to take, given that the Note 8 has just regained its foothold following the disastrous fate of the Note 7 device.
