Nokia’s First Flagship in Years: Launch Date and Price Details Out

July 19, 2017, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Nokia has already marked its return to the smartphone business with the launch of a trio of devices. But those were mid-range devices, and it was widely anticipated that Nokia would be following it up with the launch of a flagship. Well, the time have come it seems.

The Finnish company is prepping up for its first flagship phone in years with the revelation of Nokia 8, the upcoming flagship from the former mobile giants. According to tipster Evan Blass, the device will be uncovered this coming 31st for around $675. The info is based on the listing from a Scandinavian website. And that’s not it. Evan has also revealed the looks of the upcoming flagship.

The image displays both the front and rear face of the device, apparently sharing a big resemblance with the previous devices it has launched, the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6. That was expected though, as previous hints have indicated that Nokia would be maintaining its design aesthetics for all its smartphones regardless of pricing.

But indeed, it’s the difference in specifications that draws the line. Noticeably, the Nokia 8 will be featuring dual 13 MP lens on the rear-side courtesy of its recently revealed partnership with Zeiss. It will be accompanied by a dual-tone flash as per the leaked images.

Going inside, the Nokia 8 will feature top-end Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB/6GB RAM. Storage is likely to be 64 GB, and there’s no word on whether there will be additional variants. The display is the bigger upgrade as Nokia 8 will be featuring QHD resolution in a 5.3-inch 2.5D display.

The dual-SIM smartphone will be arriving in four shades: blue, steel gold/blue and gold/copper.
