HTC Likely to Include Edge Sense Technology on a Mid-Range Smartphone

HTC’s Edge Sense boundaries that were introduced with the U 11 flagship is by no means a fully-fledged feature. It has still long way to go before it shows any sign of being a standard feature in smartphones.

On its side, the company is giving perpetual push to the feature in forms of updates and added skills and features. But what’s more significant is the expansion plan of the feature with regard to other smartphones, and HTC seems to have taken the early steps.

HTC is seemingly now working on a new device that would feature the squeezable edges. And contrary to expectations, this wouldn’t be a flagship device. Instead HTC is making a big bet by expanding the feature onto a mid-range smartphone.

Codenamed Ocean Life, the new device will be packed with mid-range specs that includes a Snapdragon 660 processor. With a battery of 2600 mAh, the device will feature a Full HD 5.2-inch display with 16MP primary and secondary camera, all of which are comparatively inferior to the ones packed in HTC U11. RAM and storage details aren’t available it, but we can expect the trendy mid-range combo of 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage.

There are no details on whether the Edge Sense included in the device would be a scaled down version. But if HTC are to project its technology onto newer heights, they better be skipping any such thoughts. An extra device would also up the requirement for additional features being brought with Edge Sense, which is definitely good for cementing a brighter future for Edge Sense.
