Sprinkles is Microsoft’s Experimental App that Adds Captions and Sticker Automatically to Images

AI is probably everywhere; at least in apps churned out by the tech majors in these times. Amidst such a scenario, it shouldn’t be a big surprise when knowing that Microsoft’s latest app for iOS comes backed with artificial intelligence. But there’s a difference.

Sprinkles, the latest experimental photo editing app from Microsoft for the iOS platform is indeed powered by Artificial Intelligence. But unlike common guesses, Microsoft doesn’t use its AI to neural network backed filters. Instead, it just does a simple task of adding captions and stickers automatically and intelligently based on what’s inside the picture.

With the help of machine learning, Sprinkles can detect and determine many objects inside the images like faces, ages of those inside the picture, look-alike with celebrities, time of the day (night or day), etc. Based on those, the app will suggest you some interesting captions and emoji additions that can be added to make those images captioned by the AI. Multiple suggestions will be put forward by the AIO, and you can scroll through the available ones to choose the right one by simply swiping across the screen.

Before you get too excited, we would like to remind you that it’s still an experimental app. Not all of the results might turn out like being performed with a magic wand. But it’s still interesting to see how the AI picks up several criteria like those mentioned above.

Sprinkles is also not the first attempt by Microsoft with selfie editing in iOS platform. They still have the previously released Selfie and Pix app running, both of which garnishes the selfie images using artificial intelligence. You can download the new app from the App Store where it’s available free of any charges.
