WhatsApp Beta Update for Windows Puts Focus on Chat Details

March 7, 2017, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

WhatsApp for Windows is getting some worthy updates that would compensate for some of its features absent compared to the Android and iOS version. The beta version of the app has now been currently updated, and it pays more attention to providing users with more details about their chat.

Version 2.1.86 of the beta specifically focus on individual chats by letting users access details like number of texts, photos, GIFs and other media that has been shared with those particular contacts. In a way, this should let you know with whom you have been chatting more on WhatsApp. Those details can be accessed by simply clicking on individual chats.

Apart from that, WhatsApp is also introducing a feature that would let users identify not just any count involved in individual chats, but also the size of it. A new tab has now been introduced called the ‘Size’ tab, and it will give size details of all the individual chats. This should help you in deleting the chats that eat up more space in your device, including those that involve heavy loads of media exchange.

The current features are available only in beta version, which can be downloaded from the Windows Store. Both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 will receive the new beta update.

WhatsApp could also soon roll out the feature to its main app, which has recently been updated with the Status feature. It was followed by the update that fixed the errors when viewing Status. Windows users have reported the error of viewing statuses of unknown contacts in WhatsApp. The issue is being currently fixed through the new update that takes the version to 2.17.88.0.
