Snapchat is making its Interface Penetrable with New Universal Search Bar

Snaochat’s journey started with a focus on teens. But its popularity has expanded so broadly that the app has now got demographics split almost equally. This has been one of the reasons why there has been a constant demand of making the app interface more demystified.

Now, Snapchat is addressing those concerns by rejigging its interface with the addition of a new universal search bar. A search bar might not sound a novel addition, but it’s still a big overhaul considering the interface Snapchat has been offering that was heavily swipe-oriented.

Navigational arrows were only introduced in a recent update, but it still wasn’t convenient enough for a vast section of its users. But that’s a gone story now, as the new universal search bar will help users pop up almost anything from the platform including contacts, groups, publishers and stories.

According to Snapchat, the new interface has been designed with a special attention on making the snapping activities quicker. For that regard, they have also added a bunch of handy shortcuts, like the Quick Chat suggestions.

It also appears that Snapchat has been working on the new features for quite a time. The company has acquired Vurb, a startup that offered mobile searches, last year. The acquisition was followed by its mysterious shut down more recently.

The overhaul will not just ease the interface for the existing users, but should also help the platform expand its arm to broader users who have been skipping the platform due to the complexity involved. The new features have started rolling out to select Android users. It will be followed by its expansion to all Android and iOS devices.
