Android Wear 2.0 Arriving Next Month, Reveals Notification Mail for Developers

January 17, 2017, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Google’s second major of its smartwatch OS is finally making its way onto smartphones. Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch OS will be pecking the Android smartwatches during the early weeks of February, according to email links sent out to developers.

Developers of smartwatch app have now started receiving notification emails regarding the new Android Wear OS so that they can get prepared for it ahead of the official launch. The mails have been sent so as to update the existing app codes so that the app remains updated with the arrival of Android Wear 2.0.

Unlike in some of the previous version upgrade, the necessity to update app coding is pivotal for Android Wear 2.0 as Google will be pushing the new stand-alone feature for smartwatch apps with their new OS version.

The stand-alone feature will be one of the salient features of Android Wear 2.0. It will be enabling apps to work separately instead of depending upon smartphone apps to get connected to Wi-Fi networks or for installing apps distinctly.

Android Wear 2.0 OS was initially announced in May 2016, during when it was said that the new OS would arrive in the same year. But Android Wear 2.0 was hit with multiple delays, most of which were accounted by the negative feedback of its developer preview versions.

Google later confirmed in September that Android Wear 2.0 release has been pushed to 2017. The company said that the delay was to assure that Android Wear 2.0 arrives with no flaws, fixing all those bugs and issues from the developer preview versions.

We won’t have to wait long to see if Google has got them fixed, as Android Wear 2.0 will be hitting the smartwatches in early February. Exact date is not yet available however.
