Samsung has made a promise for iOS users back in August that it would bring iOS support for its Gear 3 smartwatch. It’s finally turning true as the company has now rolled out an official companion app for its Gear smartwatches on iOS.

With the rollout, Samsung’s Tizen-powered smartwatches will finally be able to pair up with the iOS platform, and the list of watches includes the Gear S2, Gear S3, and Gear Fit2. The former two devices will establish the connection via the newly launched Samsung Gear S app, while the latter device will require users to download the Samsung Gear Fit app on their iOS devices. As of now, only the Gear S app has gone live in the App Store. Gear Fit is soon expected to join however.

The pairing process of the app is similar to that of in Android devices, and doesn’t involve any complication. The features available will be varying according to the devices, but all the devices can be used to perform the basic fitness tasks like distance monitoring, calculation of running pace, calories burned, heart rate etc. and route travel display.

Gear S3 users will be able to enjoy even more. With its improved design, the latest smartwatch variant from Samsung offers IP68 water and dust resistance along with additional features like built-in GPS, alti/barometer and speedometer apps.

The support is available on all countries where the Gear smartwatches are available. Samsung also notes that the companion will app will also require iPhone 5 or newer devices for its smooth functioning.
