The upcoming year won’t be exclusive to iPhone 8 for Apple in regard with their smartphone launches. According to the latest rumors, the Cupertino Company is working on a 5-inch device that will arrive simultaneously with the iPhone 8 device.

The report comes from Japanese supply outlet Mac Otakara, which claims that the new device will feature specifications similar to that of Apple iPhone 7s and iPhone 7sPlus devices. The smartphones will be featuring 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screens respectively.

Earlier reports have suggested that Apple’s 5-inch device would feature edge-to-edge display technology. The new device should come in addition to the rumored iPhone 8/iPhone X device that will be coming out with 5.1-inch flexible OLED displays.

As per the available info, Apple’s new 5-inchd device likely that the device would be introduced as an upgrade of the current iPhone versions instead of being tagged along with the revolutionary iPhone 8 device.

Apart from the screen size dimension, the report also points out that the smartphone will be packing dual-camera system on its rear-side. Apple has embraced the dual-camera technology with its latest iPhone 7 Plus device.

But unlike the latter, the new device will have the two lenses arranged vertically, one above the other, instead of placing them horizontally. It needs to be seen whether the same vertical dual-cam setup will be adopted for its iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus devices.

It’s also no guarantee that the 5-inch device would eventually make it to the market, as Apple’s smartphone plans for 2017 still remains unclear. We should be hearing more as we head towards the launch date
