Apple 10.9-inch iPad Could be the First to Get Rid of Home Buttons

There have been a lot of talk going on with the revolutionary technologies that might get featured on iPhone 8. One among them suggests that Apple will have its iconic home button ditched in iPhone 8 to facilitate its edge-to-edge bezel-less display.

While we are still no way near any confirmation for that, it now appears that a similar move can be witnessed soon, but not for the iPhone device. In fact, it’s the 10.9-inch sized Apple iPad that will now have its home button removed, making it the first Apple device to do so.

Apple is said to be lining up three iPads for early next year, and the 10.9-inch version was already said to be minimizing its bezels to keep it in line with the size of the rest. According to newly emerged reports, the 10.9-inch and 9.7-inch version will be measuring same with their overall dimension.

Apple is doing the trick by chopping off the side and bottom bezels, which means that the home button with the Touch ID sensors will get placed beneath the glass display. The top bezel of the iPad will be retained along with the FaceTime camera. Reportedly, the larger 12.9-inch sized version of iPad is also said to be going through similar design rejigs.

Apple has been stepping slowly towards attaining its vision of ditching the home button from its devices. iPhone 7, which was launched this year, kick-started this slow transformation by replacing the home button with a capacitive touch button that provided no movement when touched.
